Quartzite is a hard metamorphic rock composed mainly of quartz grains, merging into a solid, dense mass with a zebra- or shell-like fracture. Pure quartzite is usually white to grey. According to the composition of quartzite, there is a classification into mica, pomegranate, and hornblende quartzites.
